Development of a New Picosecond Pulse Radiolysis System by Using Femtosecond Laser Synchronized with Picosecond Electron Beams

چکیده
A new picosecond pulse radiolysis system for the absorption spectroscopy to observe ultra fast phenomena was developed. The system was composed of a 38 MeV picosecond electron L-band linac for the irradiation source and a femtosecond laser system for the analyzing light. The laser pulse was synchronized with the electron pulse by using the common radio frequency. The timeresolution of the system was several tens picoseconds. The studies on the primary processes of the radiation chemistry have been started by using the system.

Low emittance sub-picosecond electron pulses are expected to be used in a wide field, such as free electron laser, laser acceleration, femtosecond X-ray generation by inverse Compton scattering, and pulse radiolysis, etc. In order to produce the low emittance sub-picosecond electron pulses, we are developing a compact racetrack microtron (RTM) with a new 5 MeV injection system adopting an laser...

We have been studying the pulse radiolysis using photo-cathode rf gun at Waseda Univ. Pulse radiolysis is one of the powerful methods to trace early chemical reactions by ionizing radiation. In pulse radiolysis, the probe light absorption, which produced by active species formed by electron beam of rf gun, is measured at each wavelength and made possible to trace reactions. Therefore, we have u...

A concept of double-decker electron beams, which have vertically different positions and time delay, was proposed for study of ultra-fast electron-induced reactions or phenomena by pulse radiolysis technique. One of the double-decker electron beams is used as a pump source, and another is converted to Cherenkov light and used as a probe light source. The double-decker electron beams were genera...
